death date 1669 and place, wife
--
If this is the Captain/Major John Bond of the Isle of Wight militia, he was born about 1619 and died 1678. That John Bond had a wife Dorothy Harris and children John and William.
--
from "EARLY VIRGINA IMMIGRANTS 1623-1666" by George Cabel Greer:
John Bond arrived 1638 in Upper Norfolk Co, brought by Henry Catelyn
--
An entry on the Bond mail-list shows:
Sir John Bond came to Isle of Wight, VA around 1650. He married a Dorothy Baker (nee Harris) and had three children, John, William and Francis(unsure of the sex).
--
Another researcher sends that the above Frances was a daughter b 1649, and that she married John Watson.
--
Several RootsWeb entries show this John Bond born in England, some have him born in VA, and many have no birthplace listed. It is conceivable that John was born in VA, but England is much more likely.
