His wife is generally given as Agnes Washburn, but this is wrong.
From the Jackson family genforum, message 11854:
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in the January 2000 edition of the New York
Genealogical and Biographical Record, it was proven by a top level genealogist that Agnes
Washburn did not exist. She was a combination of theories derived from assorted sources over
the generations, and the combining of these was proven to be severely flawed....in other words,
there is no possible way. It is unfortunate, but I encourage people to correct their research, as this
connection is no longer valid.

Genforum message 17042 points out that Robert was married three times: once to an Agnes, once to a Miss Washburn, and one other time. Agnes was not the Washburn.
