Kendall Co and Grundy Co are next-but-one to Cook Co (which is Chicago). Morris IL (where Gustav was born) is in Grundy Co.

From a Chally/Grunstad researcher:
Each of the immigrant Grunstad brothers had a daughter called Malinda. Erik's was born in 1868, and Halvor's married Louis/Lewis Benson/Bentson. Gotskalk's daughter Malinda was 17 in the 1870 census, and Malinda was 21 when she married Gustav in 1875, so that must be the right family.

Malinda died of TB.

--
Her death certificate has 1892 for the year, with a 7 written over the 2; or 1897 with a 2 over the 7.
It gives her age as 37 years, 10 months, and 7 days, which would be her age that day in 1892.

--
On 1897-06-08, Helge Gjertson was made guardian of the three children. They were sent to three different farms.
Conrad Jr lived with Malinda's double-cousin Erik Chally.
Gustav lived with Ole Duvick, who is from the Dövig family who immigrated with the Grønstads and Tjelles.
Lewis lived with Jacob Zeeland, whom I don't recognize.
Later that year Helge sold their interest in Gotskalk Gronstad's land, and the rest of Malinda's estate.
In 1905, when Lewis turned 21, he filed the probate for the estate. Each son was due $220.07.
